viSparsh Kinect Belt for the Blind
If I said it once, I said it a million times. The Kinect has so much potential when it's applied to research and development in the realm of accessibility. It's in this area of research that the Kinect will leave its mark. Helping those in need is a great way to use technology.
We've seen hacks like this in the past but when similar ideas are formed that involve helping out those who are less fortunate, we all win. Taking a page out of Kinecthesia, this latest hack was developed by Jatin, Tushar and Rolly and is called viSparsh (sparsh means touch in Hindi)
The device is still in a development stage but appears to be coming along quite nicely. It's able to send pattern vibrations that allow the user to detect objects and their proximity based on the intensity of the vibration.
