Fresh out the gate and right on time for all your holiday hacking needs comes the new OpenNI 2.0 SDK (along with a shinny new website to boot!). The Good folks at OpenNI have rebuild their widely used SDK from the ground up with several new enhancements pertaining to the way you build apps using 3D sensors.

So today was the day. I broke down and picked up a dedicated Windows laptop. After abandoning all things WIndows about 3 years ago -- jamming Ubuntu for a year and a half and then my MacBook Pro until present -- I had two reasons which made me bite the proverbial bullet and make that sad stroll on over to FutureShop.

The good folks at Evoluce have released their own noncommercial NUI applications for use with Windows 7. The program sports easy to use and intuitive applications dealing exhibitions, education, digital signage and healthcare. The Evoluce SDK for Kinect is only available for Windows 7 but it comes with all the necessary drivers, an NUI API, documents and other resource materials. Evoluce uses the OpenNI framework with NITE. Developers can create their own noncommercial applications using C++ and C# using Visual Studio 10.
